Tea Production Humidification & Humidifiers

Tea Production Humidification & HumidifiersCorrectly humidifying tea during the fermentation process allows oxidisation to fully occur as the high humidity prevents the tea from losing moisture to the air. If the tea dries then the fermentation process is impaired as oxidisation only occurs in the presence of moisture.

By maintaining a high humidity during fermentation the liquor of the tea is greatly improved and the amount of low quality refuse tea is reduced by up to 50%.

This results in a better quality tea with a higher NSA, therefore allowing the product to command a higher price at market.

Methods of Humidification
By using a JetSpray compressed air and water humidifier the entire rolling room is kept optimally humidified. The cooling effect from the evaporation of the moisture also helps to control the increase in temperature the tea experiences during this process.

As the system is drip free there is no wetting of the floor and self-cleaning nozzles mean maintenance is just an annual check.

Payback
After the installation of a JetSpray system in one tea production facility in Sri Lanka, producing an average of 45,000kg of tea per month, the improvement in quality and increase in market value resulted in profits that paid for the installation of the humidifier in just four months.

Mr Brian Baptist, Director at Bartleet & Co, the brokers for the above factory, commented, "The teas are jet black after the commissioning of the humidification system. There is a vast improvement in the liquors of the tea and an improvement in the density of teas."
